The Fayette County Conservation District will be celebrated their 60th
anniversary in 2006. The first organized meeting was held November 16,
1946. Over the years, the District played a key role in encouraging farmers
to have conservation plans on their farms to provide land for future
generations. The very first farm tour was held just a few years later. The
Conservation District location has changed over the years. Many will
remember when we served the county in our office on South Broadway and then
Waller Avenue, before moving to our current location at 1051 Newtown Pike
with the Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service.
In the future, the Conservation District will continue to support
community agriculture with innovative technology available to farmers. We
will continue to support our farmers and urban community as Fayette County’s
landscape continues to change.
We want to thank our partners and community members for supporting the
Fayette County Conservation District. Without you, we would not be
able to provide programs to the agriculture community. Here is to 60
years of celebrating conservation on our land and to many more.
